COLUMBUS LIGHT THERAPY CENTER VITILIGO UNIT

The Light Therapy Skin Center of the Columbus Clinic is an operational unit specializing in the use of equipment capable of artificially reproducing UV radiation to simulate the beneficial effects of the sun.

This therapeutic method involves patients being irradiated using different types of UV rays for the treatment of several skin diseases such as:

  • Vitiligo
  • Psoriasis
  • Photodermatoses
  • Atopic dermatitis
  • Skin Phototype Check-Up

The use of laser-based, LED-based or excimer machines allows to restrict the exposure to light in order to selectively radiate the disease and avoid contact with surrounding healthy skin, thus drastically reducing treatment times.

The Unit is headed by Prof. Giovanni Leone and assisted by Dr. Andrea Paro Vidolin, internationally renowned experts in this specific dermatological field.

The Operational Unit caters for the most avant-garde phototherapeutic treatments, ranging from traditional narrowband UVB phototherapy, both total body and partial, to the latest 308-nm excimer laser/light therapy.

It is also possible to carry out surgical treatment of particular forms of Vitiligo by Autologous Cell Suspension Transplantation.
