Si stima che in Italia circa 8 milioni di persone siano affette da disturbi del sonno, dal semplice russamento, alle apnee del sonno, all’insonnia e all’ipersonnia, con molteplici ripercussioni sulla vita sociale, lavorativa, familiare, ma anche sullo stato di salute.
I disturbi del sonno, infatti, possono rappresentare un importante fattore di rischio per l’insorgenza di nuove patologie (ad esempio disordini di natura cardiovascolare, neurologica, metabolica, renale…) o per un aggravamento di condizioni patologiche già esistenti, come abbondantemente dimostrato dalla ricchissima letteratura scientifica in merito.
Da qualche anno, inoltre, le novità introdotte in campo legislativo in merito alla regolamentazione del conseguimento/rinnovo della patente di guida nei pazienti con disturbi del sonno, hanno reso necessario lo sviluppo di tecnologie innovative in grado di trattare la patologia avvalendosi di un ventaglio di opzioni terapeutiche efficaci ma al contempo adattate alle esigenze e allo stile di vita del singolo paziente.
Con questo scopo è nato il Columbus Multidisciplinary Sleep Center, un Centro polispecialistico in cui Medici e Chirurghi, esperti AIMS (Associazione Italiana di Medicina del Sonno), lavorano in sinergia, realizzando un percorso diagnostico e terapeutico personalizzato, sia nel bambino che nell’adulto, basato sull’impiego di tecnologie all’avanguardia in questo campo
